9:e April: Årsmöte.


Amina och Issa Khamis från kulturföreningen Aimus entertainment talar om sina perspektiv på kulturlivet i Sverige och i Tanzania. Issa Khamis är skådespelare från Tanzania, nu bosatt i Sverige.


On the 2nd of April we held the annual meeting at Just Africa. Sten Rylander was invited to tell us about the aid program for culture projects now and then.

In March the Children's library at House of Culture received a book donation from South Korea

1 oktober: Medlemsmöte

An extra member meeting took place 1 October 2017. One task was to elect a new chairperson (the position was vacant after the annual meeting in April). Thomas Melin, architect with long experience from Sida and UN Habitat was elected. Another new board member was also elected, Marianne Nilsson Wallin, with long experience of development cooperation in Tanzania, entrepreneurship and art.

At the same meeting Johan Wallin shared his experience of organising festivals in Tanzania, more specifically the Zanzibar International Film Festival. One of his main conclusions was the importance of working together with partners.

February: Tanzanian Friendship Association workshop in Dar es Salaam.

In April, the friendship association arranged a one-man show, “Bwana Bernander”, about a young man working in Tanzania for a few years, a story about his experience and its implications for his life in Sweden and for his family. The play was written and performed by Jonas Bernander. The performance was given in connection with the annual meeting of the friendship association. In addition to members a considerable number of other spectators enjoyed the performance.

In November, a film about the Tanzania musician Vitali Maembe and his struggle against corruption was screened at an open meeting at the International Library (IB), with the presence of Vitali Maembe himself who sang a few of his songs.
